New Delhi is hosting the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit on September 12 and 13, bringing together heads of state from the bloc's 11 members alongside delegations from 10 partner countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is chairing this year's summit, has scheduled a series of bilateral meetings with visiting leaders on the sidelines of the gathering at Bharat Mandapam.

A packed bilateral schedule

Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday afternoon, followed by talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian later the same day. His meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled for Saturday.

Xi Jinping's first visit to India in seven years

Xi's trip marks his first visit to India since 2019, and his first since the two countries' militaries clashed at Galwan in eastern Ladakh in 2020. China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed his attendance on September 10.
